This year our Archbishop conferred the Christifideles Award on two deserving parishioners of Saint Thomas the Apostle. This award is bestowed on Catholic laymen and women who demonstrate by their participation in their parishes the renewal that was called upon by the Papal Exhortation Christifideles Laici. Recipients of the award have deepened the life of the Church through their generosity, work and personal commitment.
Diane Hall has been a catechist here at Saint Thomas the Apostle since 1997, leading our Sunday School program. July McCauley has taught in our Sunday School since 2000. Like Diane she is certified in the 'Catechesis of the Good Shepherd' and is a Level 2 trainer. They work together to prepare our children for the celebration of their first Confession and first Holy Communion and during these years have prepared more than 400 students for these wonderful sacraments.
