“For I was a stranger and you
welcomed me.” (Mt 25:35)
Welcoming Ministry is one of several parish ministries whose mission is to ‘welcome’ both new and established members of the community, as well as visitors at the doors of the parish. Greeters serve together with Ushers in the “front lines” in the creation of a welcoming climate and a sense of community at St. Thomas the Apostle, making our first-time guests and our regulars feel comfortable and at home.
Who we are: We are “open arms” of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish – parish volunteers who represent the entire church family not only creating a family spirit to all our current parishioners but also providing an avenue for all those interested in becoming new members. We see the future of St. Thomas the Apostle as a community of God’s people in extraordinary variety built on the respect and support of one another while sharing the message of God’s unconditional love through Jesus Christ.
What we do: We offer a warm word of welcome to visitors and parishioners, as well as:
- answer basic questions about the parish,
- establish an atmosphere of love, family, and spirituality,
- assist new parishioners to register,
- lead them and the visitors to hospitality in the Parish Hall.
Time commitment: We arrive at least 20-30 minutes before the designated service and stay at the door until after worship begins, to assist those who arrive late.
Requirements: Do you like to smile and have a great handshake? Do you enjoy meeting new people? If you do, then the Welcoming Ministry is the place for you!

Let the Church always be a place of mercy and hope,
where everyone is welcomed, loved and forgiven.
