Founded in 1886, our parish school has served the Hyde Park neighborhood and Chicago’s greater south side for over 125 years. The mission of the St. Thomas the Apostle School community is to lead, challenge and encourage God’s Children in Extraordinary Variety as they grow in faith, knowledge, and commitment to service.
At St. Thomas the Apostle, students in Preschool through 8th grade are Inspired to academic achievement, Instilled with faith values, and Involved in a caring community. Dedicated teachers challenge each student to promote their best effort each and every day with a comprehensive curriculum that includes the University of Chicago’s Everyday Math, Foss Science, and other innovative programs. The core educational experience is augmented with enrichment classes in Spanish, computers, music, art and physical education. 21st Century technology in the form of a state-of-the art middle school science lab, interactive white boards, and tablet computers enhances daily instruction.
